The Analog Audio Processor AC-AAZ is a novelty at the world market. The AC-AAZ (as the AAS) eliminates for the first time ever the Doppler effect, which is caused by every moving speaker membrane. The Doppler effect is very well known. The resulting variations in the pitch can be heard, when a police vehicle with active siren is approaches and leaving the listener position. The same happens, when the speaker membrane is moving. For the reproduction of sound, this is especially disturbing, when, as in music, low and high tones are radiated from the same speaker membrane. Caused by the phase modulation due to the membrane movement, mix (alias) frequencies are generated. These Doppler-lines are non-harmonic and produce a rough sound impression.
The AC-AAZ eliminates the rout cause of the Doppler effect completely, i.e. the phase modulation through the movement of the speaker membrane.
The AC-AAZ ensures in addition, that the SPLs of the different speaker chassis add perfectly as vectors, i.e. with respect to their amplitude and their phase to the original audio signal.
To ensure this also the offset in depth of the voice coils of the different speakers within the two-way speaker system is corrected for.
The AAZ is a dedicated development for a high-end two way speaker system. AudioChiemgau recommends to use the well known D’Appolito arrangement of the speakers in order to approximate a vertical acoustic line source.
The analog audio processor AC-AAZ receives the audio signal differentially and applies a band pass filtering to suppress spurious signal far out of the audio band. It offers a variable gain stage and separates the high frequency band from the low frequency band using a very special filter of 3rd order with 60 dB/frequency decade steepness and the physically shortest possible transit time. That avoids any perceivable depth displacement of the basic tone and the corresponding harmonic tones from a musical instruments.The frequency band above 7 kHz can be boosted between 0 and +3 dB in order to equalize diffraction effects of the acoustic baffle and give the sound more brilliance if wished.
In the low frequency band frequencies below approximately 15Hz are filtered out. This avoids potential problems with infra-sound components coming from uneven vinyl records or digital recordings. This filter is necessary when used with the our MFB-amplifier module AC-PAR75 in order to avoid extreme membrane amplitudes at those infra-sound frequencies.
An analog processer generates a signal representing continuously the speaker membrane position. This signal controls a phase modulator which exactly equalizes the phase modulation caused by the variable membrane position. The AC-AAZ generates in other words a virtually steady speaker membrane – or more accurately described, the acoustic phase center is kept at a fixed location.
The build in drivers allow to connect AC-PAZ75 power amplifiers, or for absolute top quality, to connect MFB controlled AC-PAR75 power amplifiers.The AC-AAZ has its own power supply fed by two windings of a transformer.
The AC-AAZ offers a build-in sequencer which supplies Standby and Mute signals to the connected power amplifiers in order to ensure an controlled and un-audible switching process when power is applied or removed.
